Jean Marie Syjuco

JEAN MARIE SYJUCO (b. 1952) is Manila’s foremost exponent of Performance Art, credited with bringing unprecedented attention and institutional support to this art-form in the 80s and 90s.

A gold medalist for Sculpture in the 1980 AAP Annual Art Competition, her transmedia objects and installations occupy a unique place in contemporary art. In the field of painting, her meticulously-rendered canvases (although rare and difficult to purchase) have been much sought-after by serious aficionados, and are in important private and institutional collections worldwide. She is the co-founder and chief curator of ART LAB Manila.
